Accessibility Statement

We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible.

Mr Hotshot wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers or keyboard-only navigation.

We treat accessibility as part of building the site well, not an afterthought, and we review it as we add new pages and content.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard widely used across Australian government and business websites.

We can't promise every page meets every criterion at all times, but it is the benchmark we build and test against.

What we do

In practice, that means we build the site with these things in mind:

  • Clear, readable text with strong colour contrast between text and background
  • A logical heading structure and semantic HTML that works with screen readers
  • Descriptive alternative text for images that carry meaning
  • Pages that can be operated with a keyboard, with visible focus states
  • Buttons and links that are large enough to tap and clearly labelled
  • A responsive layout that adapts to phones, tablets and desktops
  • Text that can be resized without breaking the layout

Known limitations

Some parts of the site rely on third-party services, such as embedded Google Maps, which we do not fully control. These may not always meet the same standard as the rest of the site.

Where a map or embedded tool is hard to use, the same information - our location, service areas and contact details - is always available as plain text nearby.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is something we keep working on. As we add pages and update content, we review them and fix issues we find.

If a change we make ever causes a problem for you, we want to hear about it so we can put it right.
